Najib Azad was born in Paktia, Afghanistan, in 1984. His parents were doctors in Kabul. In 1994, when the civil war was at its height, the Azad family migrated to Pakistan, where they lived for about ten years as refugees.
- Najib Azad is one of the many Afghan evacuees who resettled in the United States after the Taliban takeover in August 2021. He lives with his wife and four young children.
Besides his political and academic career, Azad has often been busy helping needy families. He had already established non-profit and charity organizations in Afghanistan, providing tens of thousands of Afghans food, shelter, medicines, clothes, and education. In 2022, when he started living in the USA, he established Focus Development Organization, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides which provides food, clothes, shelter, health services, and education to tens of thousands of Afghans in need.
